Being a fertile ground for artistic collaborations is key to us, so anyone applying for a studio space at Treehouse NDSM would have to value learning from others as much as we do. Therefore, we ask artists to apply with a specific project they would like to work on during their stay, as well as to think about how they can contribute to our creative community. Located on the former NDSM shipyard, Treehouse NDSM offers cabin studios for artists.

Treehouse NDSM is an arts incubator located in Amsterdam’s creative heart. Our goal is to provide the best opportunities to create and expose. We do this by offering 105 individual and

affordable studios for rent (which can be shared), access to our Pavilion (a 300m2 exhibition and performance hall), four smaller spaces that are 24/7 accessible to the public, and the

courtyard.  Central to the Treehouse concept is that every resident aims to present their work or process (and themselves!) to the public. We see a significant advantage of doing so together

with others, but that is entirely up to you. Treehouse NDSM aims to facilitate whatever form or way of presenting you can think of and will seek to support you on the presentation as well as with promotion. Meeting up among residents or just hanging out is possible at the cantina and on the main terrace. Garbage disposal, maintenance, cleaning, and technical assistance are all organized centrally. However, we aim to have as much work as possible executed by residents to make working in the Treehouse as affordable as possible. All these facilities are included in the rent. Not included are variable costs that depend on your personal consumption, e.g. electricity.

Our cabins differ from one another. Roughly half of them are 14m2, and the other half have between 15 and 20m2. Some have more windows (and therefore, daylight) or have running water. The allocation of studios is thought of together with the applicant, and we take into consideration their needs and preferences, but also what is better for the entire community.
